I was born in 1973 and I used to be a DJ for 8 years. Because of
my father (who used to have a pub in mid 80s in a popular Greek
island), I lived 80s really a lot and I remember exactly how it
used to be. One thing is for sure: Italo/NRG/Euro was once mainstream
here! That changed in early 90s, for distribution reasons (Don't
ask, local music indestry politics...). After 1997, this turned
even more bad. For example, today is impossible in Greece to find
music from anywhere else except USA, Britain and some specific French
lebels! That was the reason I quit DJing. I couldn't buy legally
even the basics. Stupid local distibution channels....
Anyway.
The story is, that people here, still remembers the 80s! Trust me,
I know! And there is a related underground movement take place here
(parties, new small clubs, etc), as everywhere in Europe nowdays!
About
me: I love dance music since I remember myself. My girlfriend also
:)
The last years, I turn myself to videoclip collector, of rare videos
from 80s. My collection includes videos I manage to buy basicly
from Germany (fancy, modern talking, bad boys blue, falco -ok he
is not Italo but he is great!- Taylor Dayne..) and other places
(mainly east europe). Also, I manage to find a few Italo/NRG/Euro
videos from various satellite music channels.
BUT, most of the true Italo/NRG was live perfomances on German TV
shows like "formel eins", "Eurotop", etc (don't
mention Rai/italian shows or BBC's "top of the pops" show).
I couldn't have access to those shows at the time, so I missed the
oportunity to collect them.
So, now I hunting them!
There are also others like me, I know. But most of them, are too
old or bored to do a search. This is the problem. Well, I don't
have it, so here I am! Searching for those videos!
Can you help me?
Personal
Message:
If you have videos from the 80s, Italo/NRG/Euro, then we can exchange.
Sent me your list, I'll sent you mine.
My collection is mpeg 2 (xSVCD only - to prevent comercial trade
from the "clever" ones, you know what I'm talking about...),
playable on most DVD standalones (almost all the cheap made-in-china
ones)
I
also have an offer to everyone: Because I have the knowledge and
the technology to convert any source to MPEG 2 (VHS to SVCD/DVD
for example), you can send me tapes to convert them myself for you,
with no payment.
Why I'm doing this? Because I prefer doing the transfer myself,
with the best possible way. And because I'm a collector, not a distributor,
I don't have limitations on doing it, so I can keep the quality
identical the source.
Don't worry, if you want, I shall convert those tapes to a standard
format if you choose so (VCD/CVD/SVCD).
So, are you with me?
No? Yes? Mail me then! I'll wait!
